Industrial Surface Protection & Engineering Restoration for Critical Power Infrastructure
The Mavuzi Power Station, operated by Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), is one of the oldest hydroelectric power plants in Mozambique. As part of a major refurbishment initiative to enhance performance and extend the lifespan of the facility, SIROCCOI (U) Ltd was contracted to perform specialized blasting and industrial painting services for key components of the power generation infrastructure.
This project demonstrated our capability to work on critical energy infrastructure in complex environments, ensuring long-term corrosion protection and improved operational efficiency.

Challenges & Solutions
Challenge 1: Aged Infrastructure with Surface Degradation
Due to age and exposure, many steel components exhibited extensive corrosion. SIROCCOI deployed enhanced surface preparation techniques to achieve a near-white metal finish suitable for high-performance coatings.
Challenge 2: Remote Site Logistics
Located in a mountainous area with access limitations, the Mavuzi plant required detailed logistical planning. Equipment and personnel were mobilized swiftly, and operations were executed on schedule.
Challenge 3: Safety in Confined Spaces
Working in enclosed, pressurized systems posed safety risks. We implemented confined space entry protocols, constant monitoring, and PPE compliance to ensure zero incidents.
